He Sees You Through A Wall Of Glass

A Poem.

I see Everything through a wall of glass.

I sit down at a small cafe and watch.

The passers by.

Catching bits of me.

In strange.

Oddities of orange light.

You arrive.

Here in slightly earlier time.

I turn from the pane.

Unexpected.

A smile arrives all the same.

You sit across.

We talk about the road.

We’re crossing.

I tell mine.

I hear yours.

And as this goes on.

It’s clear there’s something.

More here.

I translate you.

You translate me.

Somewhat understanding.

But.

Not really…

Looking back to the side.

Through the pane.

Glass.

It’s clear.

But.

Not really…

The light refracts.

And it distorts.

The other side.

Oh so slight.

Strange oddities.

In my eye.

Make the translation.

All the same.

I turn back to you.

Soft Focus.

And there you are.

Looking out into.

Outside Orange Dusk.

And.

Your.

Reflections of light.

I pause. Lips curling.

Watching you resolve.

Your thoughts.

A gentle nod.

A turn and smile.

A real one.

Curled lips.

And your eyes.

We pause…long pause…long long pause…

Arriving at the same place.

The Crossroads.

And we continue.

Like nothing changed.
